Services - Build it simple. Keep it yours.
We design and build web applications end to end — and we hand back systems you can actually own. Few dependencies, honest tests, and infrastructure that fits in your head.
- Product development with Ruby on Rails. From first migration to production traffic, Rails remains the fastest honest path from idea to working product. We build majestic monoliths with clear seams — applications that one person can understand and a small team can run for years.
- Systems & tooling with Go. CLIs, services, background workers, and developer tooling shipped as single static binaries. Much of our open source work — trellis, contextq, mason, Corder — is exactly this: small, sharp tools with deliberately narrow scopes.
- Interfaces with React. Modern frontends without the weight. We render on the server wherever possible and hydrate only where interaction demands it, so pages stay fast and the codebase stays comprehensible.
- Simple infrastructure & operations. A VPS, Caddy, and rsync go further than most teams believe. We design deployments you can explain on a whiteboard in one breath — and we write down how everything works before we leave.
- AI-assisted development, done carefully. We work daily on the question of how agents and codebases coexist — it's the territory trellis and contextq were built for. We can help your team adopt AI assistance without letting intent drift away from the code.
How we work - Few promises, kept
The process is not the product — so we keep ours short enough to state in full.
- Scope small, ship often. We break work into pieces that reach production in days, not quarters. Real software in real hands is the only honest progress report.
- Plain communication. You get direct access to the people doing the work, in plain language. No account managers, no decks where a sentence would do.
- Leave it better. Every engagement ends with working software, current documentation, and your team holding the keys — never a dependency on us.
